The Daily RA

The Daily RA This is my 3rd year as an RA & my senior year. I wanted to document each step of the way with door decs, programs, stories, and reblog some things that are too true.

Feel free to leave me any questions! :)

When residents give me sass for writing a resident up

Reblogged from justtheralife

justtheralife:

Last night my kids asked me if I would write someone up for blasting music in the middle of the day so loud that I could hear it in the other hall even though it wasn’t quiet hours.

What not to say…

"I mean I have a busy schedule. I work and have classes. I don’t have time to be scheduling meetings with you."

Shall we play the comparison game kiddo?
Full time job, 24/7/365 vs your ability to decide to smoke banned substances in a residence hall.

Rough Duty Night

My duty partner (who happened to be my Co) and I had a really rough night last night. It was his first weekend night on duty and of course everything happened and most of it happened on our floor. From surprise move-ins, to wasted students, to major quiet hour violations, to much more serious incidents.

We spent more time on rounds dealing with incidents than we did at the desk and a few of these incidents could have been prevented if we had caught them earlier. We didn’t get to bed until 4am last night and woken up by our supervisor first thing this morning to have us do some follow ups with some residents and to make sure that they were safe.

It has been a very emotional last 15 hours. Everyone is safe now and have been talking to the proper resources, but I’m still concerned for them. They’re my kids and I don’t want anything bad to happen to them.

I really, really hope that tonight people take it easy and stay safe.

Being real with residents
